Moving Water Sunday 20th August

Postby pattyd » Mon Aug 14, 2023 3:05 pm

Hi all, moving water trip this Sunday, will be aimed at beginners ie 1st time & paddlers with limited experience. Will pick location nearer the time depending on water levels. The trip is open to all but please note it will be a low level paddle, Alex has posted a mates paddle please see his post for the Bank Holiday on the Tywern. Please contact me if you require to use any club kit. Cheers Paul

Hi, me and Cara (aged 6) would love to come along please. We don't have a boat or any equipment though! Could we borrow a club Canadian from the hut maybe?

Hi Sam

I can meet you at Bollington shed to pick up a canoe if you have suitable roof bars.

However, If we are going to paddle at Matlock or the Burrs then they are not really appropriate venues for taking Cara along.

Thanks Mark, that's kind of you. I do have roof bars on my partner's Xtrail. Where is the destination on Sunday, I thought it was a beginner's trip!

Its most likely to be Matlock but depends on water levels.

Whilst its a beginners trip its possible to take a long swim and I wouldn't want either of you to be scared by the experience.

There will be other trips suitable for Cara.

When I know Paul's timetable i'll agree a meeting time in Bollington.

OK thanks Mark. I made the mistake of telling Cara we were going canoeing on a river and she was really excited about it, she'll be gutted! Will have to wait for a trip somewhere more tame. I'll find something else to do with her on Sunday. Thanks anyway for the offer, I'll see you next time.
