Moving Water Trip, Sunday 17 Sept

Postby billfox » Mon Sep 11, 2017 11:54 am

We have a trip on the Calendar for Sunday. There is water about, so there is a bit of a choice of where to go.
We will arrange something suitable for less experienced river paddlers, so do have a go!
Please let me know if you are interested, so that we can select our destination depending on who is paddling and what the water levels are likely to be.
I hope to choose where to go sometime on Friday, and I will update this post.

River levels are interesting! The Dee at Llangollen is higher than when we were there last month; the Irwell and the Goyt are low. The Derwent at Matlock is at a good level
So I propose that we go to Matlock, and hopefully can do the trip down from Darley Dale to Matlock. This is a pleasant grade 2 trip, and has the play spots at the slalom site near the get out.
So, this is suitable for all wanting to develop moving water skills.
Lets meet in the usual "Artists Corner" car park at Matlock at 10.00am. This is between Matlock and Matlock Bath on the A6 just north of post code DE4 3PS.
Remember: boat, paddle, deck, BA. Helmet, lunch!
We have: me, Fraser, Daryl (and Teresa?), Matt, and Alan Birchall.
I usually go via Congleton, Harpur Hill, the A515 and A5012.
Fraser, Alan - I don't know if it is worth you joining up - I will leave that to you.
If anyone else wants to come , let us know so that we look out for you.
Any queries, do get in touch or leave a message here.

Hi Bill, I can't make it on Sunday, my nephew is over this weekend from Spain, so it is just Daryl this time.
Will be going up north next Sunday though to Tees Barrage...we are both looking forward to it as we have never been.
Have a good time on Sunday, the water should be good.
