Macclesfield Athletics Development

Postby Raph and Barbara » Thu Sep 27, 2012 9:56 pm

The Macclesfield Athletics Development Fund Trustees have input the following to the Draft Macclesfield Town Strategy Consultation:

Section 5: Community facilities
To enhance existing athletics and other Olympic sport facilities by provision of an indoor athletics and multi-sport facility at the Macclesfield Leisure Centre Site. Enhance the existing athletics track by provision of a covered seating area and development of the infield as a football and/or rugby pitch.

Section 9: Other Infrastructure
Further develop and optimise use of the Macclesfield Leisure Centre site to provide an integrated Leisure and Community Sports Village with:
• Addition of an indoor athletics facility (and multi-sport hall, eg, indoor football pitches, tennis courts) and covered spectator seating for the athletics track
• Development of the infield as a football and/or rugby pitch

Use of the existing Leisure Centre site for a Leisure and Community Sports Village builds on the existing leisure and sports infrastructure at this site and avoids the costs of infrastructure development on a new site.

The Cheshire East Local Plan - Draft Macclesfield Town Strategy Consultation is open for consultation until Monday 1st October at the following website: http://cheshireeast-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal/planning/cs/town_strategies/macclesfield_town_strategy

Good stuff this - well done Barbara and others on formulating and submitting proposals.

Everyone who lives in or around Macclesfield should take time out over this weekend to study and comment on the Draft Macclesfield Town Strategy Consultation document and complete the online questionnaire. The outcome of this consultation could affect the place you live in for better or worse for the next generation or more.
