I got the following answer from the organiser....

"The handicap system for the Boxing Day Handicap is simple.
The organiser's decision is final
What other system had you in mind?

Yes there are some hidden, confidential systems that apply but these are
normally outside the mathematical ability of a runner.
For instance, your start time + the best time over the last 3 years should
add up to 41 minutes.
If you have won it before or have ever refused to buy the organiser a
drink, don't bother turning up.

But all this is probably too technical. This year the main aim is to start
on time, finish on time and get down to Old Trafford for a United match."
