2014 Fell Handicap Dec 14th

Postby phil cheek » Thu Oct 09, 2014 10:38 am

Details for this year`s edition are on the homepage.
Handicaps will be set in a few weeks after many of you have deliberately gone slowly on the Roaches race,to no avail as Barry & I will not be fooled!

Yes folks the judges scores are in.......aka here are the handicaps.

Thanks to Barry`s season long data collection my job has been made a lot easier.
If you`ve not been racing I`ve used last year`s actuals or a complete guess!
Please bring ALL the kit requirements. There will be a kit check & you will not be allowed to partake if you fail it.

MINIMUM required is waterproof cag & trousers, hat, gloves, whistle & food.
Remembering that this is just a club run & that we have very limited marshalling out there it would be sensible to carry a mobile if you have one.

If you are planning to run & are not on the list please post here & I will allocate a suitable start time.
If you are inviting a guest please let me know & only invite someone with the right experience.
Start is from ST Dunstan`s finish on the dam wall.

So that I can give the pub guidance on numbers for food can you please post here if you intend to run,,,Thanks

After coming agonisingly close last year, I was pleased to see my suggested start time had only slipped by 3 mins. Regrettably though I am unable to participate this year as I will be en route that day to Northern Sweden for some ice climbing and snow mobiling as well as catching the Northern lights. My money is on a resurgent Mr Barnes who seems to have been treated somewhat leniently with a 9.45 start, though whether he can claim the trophy depends which club he chooses to represent!

Thanks Phil and Barry !

I understand anyone who turns out to represent the club at the Leek XC the day before (hilly, muddy, and free ! so ideal for fell runners !) will get a 5 minute bonus.

My money's on Tucker if he's sound of wind and limb it's almost guaranteed .....

It seems everyone's start time is earlier this year.... presumably target is something like 12:20 with the winner back before midday ??

I was contemplating a couple of pints in the Dunstan followed by a post-race group curry, but most of the local curry houses are shut till 4 or 5, and any earlier will probably be a bit too soon after we get fed in the Dunstan ( are we getting fed in the Dunstan ?). Any thoughts ?

Tx once again both, see you there.

I'm in, and so is Lilly. But more importantly is anyone participating in the traditional Viceroy curry the night before (plus few pints in the Poachers). Essential carbo/ crap loading for the really keen amateur.

I'll be whizzing round Meerbrook villagehall for ca 3hr on saturday night with a break for calorie input. That must merit 5mins Julian.

Yes soup & roll in the Dunstan, though you gannets have usually scoffed the lot before late finishers & the organiser(aaah!) arrive.
If you do the xcountry on Saturday you`ll just have to run tired & feel good about yourself,no 5 minute bonus.
That`s 2 people who have Tucks as nailed on favourite,we`ll see.

Things are starting to look good. Bit disappointed at first by an early start position but could be compensated for by a good finish. Off to Shropshire for final preparations Thursday, then early nights, cocoa and a good rest, ready for the big day.
