Fell Handicap Update

Postby phil cheek » Thu Nov 16, 2006 7:53 pm

Fell Handicap is confirmed as starting & finishing at Common Barn Cafe.
Sunday Dec 17th with starts from 10.00.
Slower runners (eg Alan,Karen,Kath,Julie, Justin)off first with the whippets & greyhounds (Mark,Andy, etc)setting off up to 80 minutes later.
Handicaps are coming along nicely, thanks to helpful input from Barry Blyth.
Route is almost finalised,I`m just awaiting confirmation from United Utilities that the footpath from Lamaload to the Waterworks will be available(if not there will be a clearly marked diversion that adds no distance or climb).
I will get John to put the route on the website.
There`s no entry fee,no marshalls & you are your own routefinders!!!
I will ask people to let me know if they`re planning to run,so that i can give Rona some idea of numbers & make sure we`ve handicapped as many of you as possible.

Phil
PLEASE carry FULL BODY COVER,GLOVES & HAT...I will be checking!!!

I find it hard to swallow that Mark has time to go shopping in Buxton and still have time to overtake me on the event.

With a reliable car, of course.

Nancy and I will be running.

Please bear in mind the last time we raced together she beat me... (by 20 minutes on a 31 mile race). This should mean that I'm pretty much first off then...

Please also bear in mind that I did not overtake John until about the 18 mile mark in that race, and that he had a bad cold! I expect to be about as slow as last year, and that once again, John will pass me before reaching the treats at the tree.

Members should remember that this your last oppurtunity to score points in the Club Fell Champs. 6 points go to all those who complete the course or marshall / help at the start / finish ( generally due to injury- Phil Cheek is always grateful on this as it allows him to have a run himself ). Competent guest runners are also allowed.
A minimum of Full body cover ( Cag and Legs ) and hat and gloves will be compulsory as Phil has already posted. I also suggest some food and drink.
There may be a few token prizes this year for particularly noteworthy but not necessarily the fastest efforts.

I plan to run, but only arrive back from India on the Saturday so will be very jet lagged (early excuses).

If I don't run, I'm quite willing to do the marshall stuff at the end so's Phil can join in.

Mr T,
You`ll be most welcome.
I`ll be asking folk to give me some idea who`se coming in a few days(when I get back from sunny Cyprus) so that I can complete the handicaps & warn Common Barn on Numbers.
John Bunyan will be putting an annotated map on the website soon.

Yes I have a sick sense of "fun". Common Barn seem to come up trumps on the cake front so I'm sure it'll be worth it. Cheers for the map John.

The route as marked on John`s map is now finalised.
The footpath between Lamaload car park & the waterworks is open. The signs still say it`s closed but I have United Utilities & Cheshire CC assurance the work is finished & the closure has expired!
If anyone has any difficulty interpreting the route from John`s map ive me aring & I`ll talk you thru it.
