Cloud 9 race Congleton or Peelers Hike Bury Sun 5th March

Postby Julian Brown » Mon Jan 16, 2017 3:58 pm

.. is down to about 100 places...

Nine miles or so off-road event, plenty of hills and mud guaranteed and a cake-fest afterwards back at race HQ.

What’s not to like for 8 quid.

or alternatively....

A long distance walkers' (but you can run if you want !) event on the same day, from Bury, a bit further but also ...... plenty of hills and mud guaranteed and a cake-fest afterwards back at race HQ.

Hi Terry if you mean the cloud 9 the route is well enough marked and marshalled, and with enough runners that no-one should get lost.

The Peelers Hike isn't marked or marshalled except at the checkpoints, but you get a route description which is fairly easy to follow (turn right at burnt out car, ahead 300 yds to turn left at stuffed badger, that sort of thing), and there's a map of sorts here... it is possible to go wrong, but hard to go badly wrong. About 15 of us, with a range of abilities, did it 3 years ago, we all got back. With a bit of luck some might be up for another go !!

.... And another plug for a long distance walkers' (but you can run if you want !) event on 5th March, £8/£9, from Bury ...... plenty of hills and mud guaranteed and a proper feed and cake-fest afterwards back at HQ.

I think* I'll be hiking with the Peelers on Sunday. Willing to drive anyone who will be very slow or very patient. I think it's not yet full, £12 on the day.

*Not yet confirmed but phone conversation with organiser seemed to indicate very likely.

Peelers Hike Bury Sun 5th March

Postby Julian Brown » Thu Mar 02, 2017 5:09 pm

Hi Nancy - We'd give you a lift but we're off to see my sister afterwards, she lives in Bury.

I'm fairly sure they're not full - so room for anyone else who would enjoy a few hours of trundling round some (probably boggy) moors.

Apparently we're not allowed over the top of Bull Hill this year, as the army will either shoot us or blow us up.
So they've sent out a revised route description and I've done a map.

Hope to see you there !

Thanks for the map Julian, it looks very good. Unfortunately I have had to change my plans today. :(
