9.30 Quarry Car park, 165 Kinder Rd, Hayfield SK22. GR SK 048869. Kinder Downfall Race Route Recce
This Sunday's run will follow the Kinder Race (23rd April) route from the car park near Hayfield, so besides being a pleasant, scenic, steady run, will provide the opportunity to become familiar with the race route and see where the best route choice is.
Quarry Car Park, Nr. Hayfield. Also known as Bowden Bridge Car Park
Parking - The car park is pay and display but there is plenty of parking on the road before the car park. Meet at Tucker's to car share if convenient, for a 8.45 departure. Otherwise see you at Hayfield for 9.30.
The race route is as follows. We will join the route on the Snake Path as it leaves Hayfield. The race starts directly in the centre of Hayfield.
1) Start - bridge near Royal Hotel, Hayfield village centre (037869).
2) Snake Path (041868).
3) Snake Path to foot of William Clough (059887).
4) Finger Post (064902). Number taken.
5) Kinder Downfall, large Cairn on South side (083889). Number taken.
6) Edale Cross (077861). Number taken
7) Stoney Ford, path (073863 – 054867)
Hayfield Recreation Ground (039868) – Finish
The race is won in about 65 minutes so I reckon it must be about 8 miles. We'll take a little longer - maybe ~2 hours but as it's going to be a cracking day, maybe even longer.
If the forecast is correct for Sunday, come prepared for the extreme conditions - sunglasses, water, shorts, suntan cream etc:
Tea & cakes in Millie's Tea Room after the run.
