WED: HEROD FARM RACE or RUN from HAYFIELD 19th Apr

PostPosted: Mon Apr 17, 2017 1:44 pm
by BARRY BLYTH
It's the first of Wed Summer Series races on Wed. Herod Farm is "only" 3mls but it starts with a stiff climb on a track before hitting the Fell. Save a bit for the shorter but stiffer climb in the 2nd half. Details can be found here:

https://glossopdaleharriers.wordpress.c ... fell-race/

For those not waiting for prizes! Then we will join up with the Intermediate runners in the Royal see below. NB The club mag states "The George" too small!

I've copied Dave's Facebook post re the alternative run

Intermediate Fell Running Group – Weekly Run. Wednesday, 19th April, Quarry Car Park, Hayfield. 7pm.
The venue for this week’s IFRG run is Hayfield. This gives us the opportunity to try out some different terrain – the grit stone of the Dark Peak and Kinder Scout. The run starts at 7pm from the Quarry Car Park at Bowden Bridge just outside Hayfield - GR SK 049 869.

The leadership team this week is Emma Beveridge, Andy, Mark Wheelton and David Tucker (leader).
As the venue is a bit further out from Macclesfield there’s the option to meet up at Hurdsfield at my house (8 SK10 2QQ) at 6pm to car share and drive together if you’re not sure where the start is.
Bring the recommended gear, especially a cag and cold weather kit as it can still be chilly.
The after-run venue is the Royal Hotel in the centre of Hayfield. There’s plenty of parking there. It’s a big pub with plenty of room and good beer. If you accept a lift to the venue ensure your post run plans are in harmony with those of your driver!

Please don't let me dissuade you from going to Glossop or Hayfield but a few of us who are running next weekend are off for a run round some or all of the Bollington 3 peaks, 6 mile ish, from the Vale, 7pm start, all welcome.

If anyone is going via Rainow, Allen and I would like a lift (for the race).
Also, if any 'intermediate' fell runners want to try a race, you could try this one and you won't be the last harrier - that'll be me!

Oh great thanks very much Barry. I live on Buxton Road but will walk down higher fence and wait at the canal bridge there at 6 - the one just above Hulley Road on the right if that's OK for you coming from Tytherington? Much appreciated :), Kathleen

Barry - Allen and I will be on the main road (at the bus stop before our corner - since it's not great to stop there) at 6pm.
