South Mynd Tour, Shropshire, 14/5

Postby Julian Brown » Mon May 08, 2017 2:48 pm

I think I shall have a go at this next Sunday, (from Hazel's mum's house ....) a great area for fell running.

... and anyone who fancies a lift down - either to do the race - or for a day's walking or running round the area - would be more than welcome (you might have to get yourself to Rudyard though.) It's probably about 90 minutes drive each way.

I'm very tempted to do this, but not at all sure if I'm anywhere fit enough at the moment. Have been trying to open 'race results' in the hope that I can see how slow the slowest are, but to no avail. Has anyone done it before?

Hazel, no one's done it before, it's never been held before, and a new area for fell races on the mynd.

We ran a lot of the route as part of the mercia hill trial, and as is the way down there, some bits are steep, very steep, both up and down, but it's mostly on good paths or grassy hillside, and in between some good running. I think you'd enjoy it.

Lovely part of the world this and could be tempted but entry fee a bit steep for me. oh and doubt I'd get round.

You all missed a grand day out, great low-key (about 60 of us) race with a bit of everything (well, not too much flat, but a bit of everything else) and taking us to lots of new areas.

Big thanks to Hazel and Jo for the company, and especially big thanks to Hazel's mum (who's house is conveniently 50 yards from the start) for looking after us !!
