2017 has been the most closely contested ever. With 8 races in all and the best 5 to count It came down to the last race, Eccles Pike (3.4mls and 1001 ft), with all the 3 leading contenders Mark Messenger, Dan Croft and Allen Bunyan in with a chance. Well they fought it out to the bitter end with just 6 seconds separating them in this race. I’ve attached the final table which shows Mark 1st, Dan 2nd and Allen 3rd. Mark increased his chances by completing 7 races and was able to discount his 2 lowest scores. Mark and Dan are regularly taking 1st V50 category prizes and have been nip and tuck all year taking it in turns to beat each other. Great stuff.

For the ladies Kathleen O’Donnell was the clear cut winner and the only one to complete all 8 races. Kathleen has been picking up regular LV 40 prizes and often placed in the top 3. Andrea Frost was 2nd lady also usually picking usually up LV50 prizes. Well done to Julie Smith for taking the 3rd spot.
Over the series just 10 managed to complete at least 5 races but a total of 93 turned out at least once. The biggest turnouts were the Forest 5 49, the Rainow 5 39 and the Boars Head 30.
Thanks must go to the organisers and marshals of our 2 club races the Forest and Rainow 5’s.
