Sweetie Tree Recce Run. 9.30am Cat & Fiddle Lay-by, Buxton Rd, Macclesfield, SK11 0AR

It's the Club event of the year on the 10th Dec and Phil's potential punitive penalties for missing the sweetie tree make it all the more important this year to know where it is and how to get to it!

Fortunately this Sunday's run comes to the rescue; it's a guided tour from the Cat & Fiddle, following the Handicap race route to the sweetie tree then continuing on the route out to Shining Tor. From there, still on the race route the run will continue to Lamaload Reservoir before turning back to return to the start at the Cat & Fiddle.

For reference the sweetie tree is at GR 001 736. If someone can bring some nice sweeties we can replicate the feeling of arriving there on the day?

Park, meet and run from the lay-by opposite the closed Cat & Fiddle pub at 9.30. Or if convenient meet to car share at Tucker's for a lift to the start, leaving Tucker's at 9.05am.

Conditions and kit - Sunday's forecast is 9oC , light winds, cloudy, some sun. At the Cat & Fiddle we are high up so bring the right kit for chilly conditions. The route to and from the sweetie tree is tussocky, very boggy and wet. Grippy shoes and warm socks are good! In conditions of low visibility a compass bearing can be helpful so it's worthwhile having one to set a bearing for race day when runners can be on their own and feeling lonely.
