KINDER TRIAL (sat 20th) and LAMBS LONGER LEG (sun 21st)

Both these races had lower fields than normal. No doubt some were put off by the weather forecasts. In Saturday's Kinder Trial 6 harriers ran with specialist orienteer Mark Burley first back in 7th place out of 104 with Matt Lewis and David Brockbank 26th and 27th. Clare Griffin was next back in 49th with bumblers ((map dropped glass lens lost (the other steamed up)) Trev Longman and yours truly a further 10 places back. Mark thought that taking the "orienteering" best lines lost him 10+ mins which would have placed him 4th. The bumblers followed the footprints in the snow (as did most). A good run out in the hills (map provided) followed by bowls of soups, cake etc all for a £6 entry fee.

On the LLL the snowy conditions meant for slower times than normal, Even English Fell Champ Simon Bailey was 4 min down in this short 3 mile race. In a field of 47 Robbie Peal was 1st Harrier back in 6th closely followed by Mark Burley. Ann-Marie Jones was 21st overall and 2nd lady. I brought up the rear in 31st place and managed to come 1st and last V70.
