Macclesfield Harriers

This was the first English champs race. At just over 21 mls with 4500ft of climb a challenging race in which 391 finished out of 413 starters. Good conditions helped. 6 Harriers (all vets) turned out. Looking at the Sportident split times all look to have paced the race well moving up the field. First harrier back was Dave Brockbank followed by Steve Swallow, Graham Brown, Gillian Lindsey, Kathleen O'Donnell and Julie Gardner. Gillian had a particularly good run, given her injury induced training deficit, finishing 8th in her category and justa few months off moving up a cat. Carl Hanaghan ran and just made it into the first 100, so whilst now a first claim Helm Hill runner is still a Macc Harrier so technically the first harrier back.
