HAPPENINGS ON THE FELLS

Postby BARRY BLYTH » Mon Sep 17, 2018 7:29 pm

The summer’s a busy time of year and it’s easy to miss what people have been up to. A summary (probably incomplete) of the last couple of week-ends:

Sun 9th Sep GRITSTONE GRIND 35MLS Trail race in the Peak District:
Quite a few harriers ran the highlight being Kathleen O’Donnell 1st placed lady in 6hrs 29min and 10th overall out of 152 finishers. Rob Gittins was just ahead 8th overall in 6hrs 25min. Rachael Lawrance was 3rd lady in 6hrs 43.

Also on Sun 9th A few of us did the PADFIELD Plum Fair Scamper (5.5mls/1050 ft) picking up a couple of vet prizes (Anne-Marie and BB)

Sat 15th LANTERN PIKE (5mls/1100ft). Slight modified course made for a tough finish. 4 harriers ran with Lucas Parker coming 9th out of 140; excellent for a 17 yr old. At the other end of the age spectrum vet prizes picked up by Anne-Marie Jones 1st FV65 and BB 1st V70. AMB was actually 4th lady overall.

There were some Junior races going on with Oliver Bailey coming 1st in the MU13 category. Good to see youngsters doing well.

Sun 16th STANNAGE STRUGGLE 9 harriers ran with Mark Burley 1st back in 14th place and Dan Croft 2nd back in 19th place out of 276. Some solid results nearly all finishing in the top half.

This was a club counter the updated table is attached. The next counter is Windgather (EOD) on Oct 14th; a long so could have a significant impact on the table as several don’t have yet to do a mandatory long.

Individuals do all sorts of oddball races (Mark Burley; Matt Johnson). Happy to do a compiled report if I’m advised

Barry
