The annual Night Street Orienteering will be on Wednesday 19th December. This is for club members. The event is starting and finishing at The Vale Inn, Adlington Rd, Bollington. Andy Skelhorn (Fell Section) is the organiser.

Registration is at 18.45 and the start is at 19.00. The event is 90 minutes - find as many controls as you can either on your own or in pairs (don't be late back - there are penalties).

Please ensure you wear hi-viz and you will need a head-torch, a pencil and a poly bag (for the map in case of rain). Look out for other runners whilst you are out as Bollington Harriers are doing the same course (but from the Poachers).

There is no entry fee but there will be a collection for East Cheshire Hospice.

Food will be available until 9.00pm - best to order before you run. Please let Andy S know if you plan to attend.

Andy Skelhorn

To bump this up the list a bit... I'll do about 40 maps - we had about that many last year ! unless someone tells me there are coach parties coming ! All very much welcome, families, juniors, fiends, whoever.

Maps will be waterproof if there's any forecast of rain on the night, and if I can find the waterproof paper.

They'll look a bit like this (last 2 years), so very professional, the proper orienteering clubs could learn a thing or two I reckon. Whilst you can choose to stay on the roads there will also be off-road options, tracks, footpaths, canal (preferably on the towpath, but your call) and so on.

I have it on good authority that the usual selection of quality trophies will be up for grabs again, none of your old tat brought back from holidays and such, and I believe there will be an additional prize for the most interesting object found and brought back on your travels. Please not the brewery cat again though, it's getting a bit vexed at being carted back to the pub each year, and the sheep up White Nancy are allegedly much easier to catch.

Hope to see you there.

There are 16 people who have marked themselves as 'going' on the Facebook event (not sure how reliable that figure is) and the normal Wednesday D group run has been cancelled to encourage runners to try this instead so that may boost numbers.

Can I request an enlarged A3 map as I while I can carry reading glasses it's bloomin awkward to keep popping them up on my head and down again. Alternatively, willing to share some local knowledge with someone who doesn't need reading glasses ...

Myself and Andrea hope to be able to make it, and the idea of an A3 map sounds good for us 'bats'.

CU There!
Hope you've used a laser printer if you are using the waterproof paper.
Trust me, I am also a member of a proper orienteering club.

Bollington Harriers (on their Facebook page) appear to be claiming victory!
Is this correct?
How was the decisions made?
If the first club to declare victory wins, I hereby declare victory in the 2019 event for Macclesfield Harriers
