Spine Race

Jasmin Paris has just won the Spine Race in 83.12.23 and smashed the record. Was watching the live feed when she reached Kirk Yetholme. Awesome. Eugeni who is in second place was around 9 miles behind.

Yep Hazel, I've just been glued to the closing stages of this and Jasmin has emphatically thrown down the gauntlet to anyone who wants to try and beat her time! I feel sorry for the men :D :D

Ex Macc Harrier Mike Hartley set a Pennine Way record of 2 days 17h 20m (ca 268 miles and 40000 ft) no sleep and only 2 stops (1 for Fish &
chips). http://trailblazer-guides.com/book/penn ... ennine-way . His record still stands.

Mike did a number of amazing feats including the 3 UK Classic Rounds totalling 183 miles and 83000 ft consecutively in 3 days 14hrs and 20
mins including transit times. Incredible.

Mike Hartley's record is truly amazing, but obviously Jasmin's and his times can't be compared. Jasmin ran the whole Pennine Way without support, she had to carry everything with her, including sleeping bag, stove, cooking implements, plenty of food, extra clothing etc etc. She had to run and navigate on her own which meant she had no pacers and she did it in winter conditions. She was also expressing milk for her little girl, and of course the amount of extra calories her body was using to produce milk is huge.

Second lady Shelli Gordon came in about an hour ago, 17th overall. It's all quite mind boggling.

Your'e quite right Hazel. I was just putting out a reminder of the club's traditions in relation to mountain challenges. I'd add Ann Stentiford and the Mark's Hartell and McDermott all major achievers whilst with the club.

Cheers Barry

Just found out Rob Gittins is running in it. Completely passed me by despite watching red dots obsessively since Sunday. He's at mile 237.65. 30 miles to go. Fantastic
