Barry Blyth's British Fell Running Champs 07

Postby Beneficial Dictator » Tue Apr 03, 2007 9:20 am

While several of us raced around Kinder Downfall at the weekend Barry was over in Northern Ireland at the Donard-Commedagh Race ( Sat 31st March ) the first race in this years British Fell Champs. 6.8miles with 3300ft of ascent sounds pretty tough and are reflected in runners times.
Barry finished 3rd M60 in 104th place 1.20.43 behind Dave Spedding ( Keswick ) in 82nd place 1.18.23 1st M60 & Dave Tait ( Dark Peak ) in 89th place 1.19.11 2nd M60.
Good effort & well done to Barry who has been struggling with a calf injury of late. With a return to full fitness he will hopefully close the gap on the Dave's in future champs races.

Further to BD's post, Barry is indeed closing in on the top runners. He was only 3 places and 12 seconds behind V60 winner Dave Tait at Llangynhafal yesterday. Another month of injury free training and hopefully the positions will be reversed at Duddon Valley.

Well Done to Barry Blyth, 2nd V60. Good runs from everyone, the Boys - Warren Masson, Ewan Douglas & Dave Kilpatrick. Janet Hatton had a good run ( this being her first at national championship level ) in the Ladies race finishing 15th overall & 5th FV40. Very Well Done to Welsh Harrier - Martin Cortvriend for his organisation of the event.
