9.30 Fairholmes visitor centre, Upper Derwent Valley. Nr Bamford, S33 0AQ. GR 173 894

Thanks to Hazel for organising and leading this week's Sunday run. A whole new area to explore that makes the drive all worthwhile!

"This week we're visiting the glorious Upper Derwent Valley, home to the Derwent and Howden reservoirs where 617 Squadron practised before bombing the German dams. We'll be climbing up onto the moorland where there are fantastic far reaching views, and lesser visited deep cloughs. If you bring a dog along, please remember it is still bird breeding time and they will need to be kept very close to the paths. Expect to be out at least 2.5 hrs, bring suncream, plenty of water and as we will be out a while, something to nibble".

If convenient meet at Tucker's to car share for a 8.30 departure, otherwise park, meet and run from Fairholmes at 9.30 am. There is free parking along the valley, and provided you are there in reasonable time, 2 laybys quite close to the visitor centre. If you come to the roundabout you have come too far. Parking in the main car park where there are toilets is £5.00.

Afterwards we shall repair to The Anglers Rest at Bamford, a community pub and cafe.
