We have tallied the scores following Langdale and can announce that the stand out ladies' and men's winners for the series this year are Kathleen O'Donnell and Simon Fox. Both scored 57 points from two race wins and one second place and each ran in four races. Many congratulations to both of them in what was a competitive field.

So as the sun sets on the first High Fell Series, we are delighted with how it has unfolded. 26 Harriers ran at least one race, with 19 turning up for the double header at Newlands in April. The next most successful race was Langdale, attracting 9 runners.

Plans are already afoot to improve the series for next year, which will include a larger number of races to choose from, including several from the English and/or British champs. Additionally, any races in Wales, Scotland or north of the M62 that attract more than 3 Harriers will also be added in. Expect at least one race to be organised around a club weekend away.

As ever this is all about promoting and encouraging participation in fell races that are further afield and offer a different set of challenges to our local Peaks races. Watch this space for news on the 2020 series...
