Fell Weekend Away – UPDATE

Postby Tom Whittington » Fri Mar 13, 2020 6:20 pm

Blink and you’ll miss the latest news, such is the speed with which things are happening with C-19. Who can predict where we’ll be in a fortnight? It is easy to start getting into panic mode when other things get cancelled, but does that mean we should follow suit? What we do know is Coledale Horseshoe is postponed and perhaps Eskdale Elevation will be too. The current government policy would suggest that we shouldn't cancel, but it does give certain guidance on what we should do to mitigate risk. Happy Birthday. At Harriers we have a duty of care to our members and we will closely monitor the situation. For obvious reasons, anyone with symptoms should stay away and anyone who no longer wants to come can make that call, especially if they feel particularly at risk. No problem. See Emma's guidance on the club website.

However, as it stands, the weekend is planned to go ahead and there will be an activity in place for those who were hoping to race. Maybe we’ll even put a race on of our own! Eskdale is a wonderful place and there are tons of options. The last weekend trip away was thoroughly enjoyed by all despite no one racing so it would be a shame to cancel without it genuinely being the right thing to do. But be aware too that this may have to happen.

If for now you still plan to come it would be good to start thinking about car share options. For obvious reasons much of this will need to be finalised a few days before. I have it on good authority that the YHA is well stocked with loo roll. If you have any concerns please drop me a line, but in the meantime watch this space and don’t panic. Yet!
