Windgather Trophy.....

Postby Julian Brown » Tue Aug 28, 2007 2:00 pm

As usual ('cos they know me..... ) the search has begun.....

I suspect 'Bob' King, if it's you, and you're trotting round no doubt you'll bring it back, if it's not you or you're not trotting perhaps you could let me know - otherwise I'll be in trouble again.

Cheers Julian

Spoken to 'Bob', whoever he is :? and he is going to return Windgather Trophy possibly tonight to give to a Saturday afternoon trotter. Bob might not be able to make the trot this year.

Ta muchly, the little man is back with the slightly larger man given to the ladies (if you see what I mean).

Didn't think Bob was that cryptic, we've
Bob Kilpatrick,
Bob Harris
and Stephen you're Bob Bob Watts.
Craig is Bob Bob (backwards) Bob no-mates Harwood
and it's anyone's guess what the Mark's are.

BGR Macc H completist list. Yes, I have one that I believe Pete Coppack compiled a year or two ago. I will dig it out and get it posted on the BG section of the website. The quibble will be whether to list members who completed prior to joining Macc H etc... I intend to be generous here and include everyone ( it affects me as well, as Bob was prior but boB & boB no mates was after ).

Thanks very much Pete, I've added to the website - and obviously if anyone wants to post any further info I'll amend accordingly.

As I suspected the double list of who was a member prior to BGR, when BGRing or after BGR does make things complicated. As a multi completist I have already mentioned my 1st round was prior but on my subsequent solo one I was definetly a member. I also understand that some of the listed early completists were not paid up members of the club at the Time of completion. I personally do not consider it so important. They have been or are currently club members. I also notice for example that Adrian Belton ( another multi completist of rounds, 2 Ramseys at least one being an extension to 27 Munros from memory - the current record ) is shown on the second list & I know for a fact that he was a member for most of his considerable efforts. He only left the club several years after moving out of the area. Though not a current paid up club member, ( he runs unattached currently ) he has on occasion run as a Macc H for team counter purposes ( he did at this years Manx MM ).
Lets just have one list and be slightly generous with our interpretation of who should be on it.

BGR

Other omissions include Mark Elsgood (1997), Mike Hartley (1986) and Andy Thornton (1985). They are all ex members of Macc Harriers although not necessarily at the time of their round.

Mike of course holds the Penine Way record (2 days 17 hrs) and the incredible record of the Ramsay, BGR, and Paddy 'back to back to back' in just over 3.5 days.

As well as the credits Pete mentions, to my knowledge Macc still have the 2nd fastest men's round (Mark H), the fastest and 3rd fastest women's rounds (Anne S and Alison W) and of course Mark McD is the previous 24hr record holder prior to Mark H.

Does it really matter who was/wasn't a paid up member - up to 20 years ago, when they did/didn't achieve something?

Presumably it does if the club want to claim the achievement rather than the individual?

Isn't there going to be a gold embossed plaque or something with the names of completionists listed for all the world to salivate over? Then it does matter who was or wasn't, is or isn't a member. Doesn't it?
