Just back from Cumbria with news of a successful "50@50" by Geoff today.
It was fraught at times, with Geoff going thru what he described as a 10 hour bad patch & on my leg moving at times with all the speed of a torpid slug, even downhill!
Still he soldiered on like a good`un & improved over leg 4,the weather wasn`t as horrid as forecast & he finished in 23.46.
Would you believe 19 minutes from Blencathra summit to Threlkeld?!,incredible for a brainless teenager let alone a brainless supervet.
A triumph of talent ,bottle & memory over lack of training miles.Well done mate.

Thank you! Leg 1 was great and enjoyable with Digby & Bryan Carr, if a little fast at times, then my bad patch started. That lasted all through leg 2 to Dunmail (expertly navigated by Mike Nelson, with Digby & Bryan) and as described by Phil got worse over the Dunmail to Wasdale section, I was v slow and 24hrs was looking decidedly dodgy.

The weather must have been too good cos once the bad weather started at the top of Yewbarrow I got going again and kept it together until the end. A final shuffle to the Moot Hall and it was Bucks Fizz all round!

Thanks to everyone for their support, those mentioned above and Phil for leg 3, Bryan Carr & James Pearce of Congleton for accompanying me on 4 & 3 legs respectively, Chris Cripps and Annette, Chris Almer from Rochdale and especially John Amies and Chris Rhodes for road support.

It was painful but worth it!

Many Congratulations also to Jon Chapman who completed the Paddy Buckley this weekend in 23hrs 20 mins

Great effort by the clubs longest serving former fell rep. Well done Geoff especially in some pretty wet windy iffy weather (well that was what we were getting in the Saunders MM on the Helvelyn area).

Well done Geoff. While not the worst weather for leg 4 this year, it wasn't far off, with most of the time spent in the mist. There seems to be a theme this year of great weather till Wasdale then it changes. I'm blaming that Mr Cheek and his rain dances!!

Chris, there`s a theme here. When it rains on you & Kirsty it`s her fault. When it rains on you after I hand-over on a BG it`s my fault.
So nothing to do with you then??????
We might as well issue a weather warning now for Snowdon for the night of the 18th.
