Good luck to all the Bullock Smithy runners.

Not quite the same as the TMB, but there are sort of real time results here... http://www.bullocksmithy.com/liveresults.html

Quite a few harriers out and could be some good results I expect (Tony Okell has already retired...)

Well done all in somewhat trying conditions underfoot - although it didn't rain as much as it could have....

Congrats to Stephanie who at 12 years is the youngest lady ever to complete the route, still full of beans at the finish.

We narrowly held on to the team prize, well done Paul / Mark / Geoff.

Macc results - apologies to those what I've missed off...

place Name time
2 Paul Rushworth 10.51
7 Mark McDermott 11.34
12 Geoff Pettengell 12.45 (Geoff's 20th lap I think)
23 Fran Swallow 13.21 (2nd lady only 3 mins behind Nicky Spinks)
24 Julian Brown 13.21
46 Stephen Watts 14.55
46 Stephanie Watts 14.55
53 Nancy Bunyan 15.26
71 Justin Gutmann 17.38
76 Dave Walker 17.41
Jonathan Falkner retired castleton
Angela Leonard retired brand top
Matt Kowalski-Hicks retired walker barn

about 240 entered, over 200 started, not sure how many retirements but quite a lot, over eighty I think.

Many thanks to Fran and Alison for your company.

We had the 'first entrant to complete the route with soles held on by string for last 20 miles' in our group.

We also had rather a scary moment on the top road to Walker Barn, when Ayrton Senna's son came over the (blind) crest behind us at 60 mph ish, the next thing we heard was a loud thud and sounds of twisted metal. We thought he'd hit one of our group, but had instead hit the wall and made more than a bit of a mess of his car. Not too clever.

As I was hurting a little too much to venture to Teggs this evening, whilst browsing, I discovered the concept of "recovery clothing" on t'internet

http://secure.lakesrunner.com/womens-cl ... 5_121.html

Should I consider this approach to improve future event times??

Fran,I`ve no idea whether these things work but a majority of the foriegners at the TMB were wearing the socks.
It all looks a bit iffy to me,maybe this year`s fad.
I notice that the icebath is now being discredited when for the last few years that was the magic elixir.
What next?I reckon it will involve turnips in some way.

Take one turnip.
Cut across diameter with a sharp knife.
Bring to body temperature *
Apply cut surface to affected parts of the body.
Rythmically (music can be used here) move turnip across and around body parts.
Keep doing this until recovery is complete.

* this can be achieved by placing turnip in a private place.

Very well done Fran for your brilliant performance - and to everyone else who entered. I have often fancied a pair of those long socks - They may help me run as fast as Paula (- not!) but might help keep my legs warm - being rather nesh at the best of times - and keep the mud off.
You should bake some of your lovely cake and eat it all yourself - well earned. So what's next?

Re : Janets post above "what next for Fran" - well I'm hopeful we can persuade Fran to run in the clubs Ladies team at the British Fell Relays !.
In the same post, regarding Cake, Fran's are legendary, Highly recommended.
Cheers.
Craig.
