Hear hear Fran, Well Done to all the clubs representatives & especially to Danielle - wear that England kit with pride.
I hope I can encourage those who took part to consider racing in the Shuttlingsloe Fell Race on bank holiday Monday 25th May which is an English champs race. See my post on Junior fell running on the fell forum.
Well done again.
Craig.

Yes well done to Danielle :D I have been watching and cheering her on for the past 2 years she just gets better and better and very modest with it. Good Luck for next week.

And she also finds time to coach the under 11's!! which is greatly appreciated.

Fantastic achievement and good coverage of Danni's achievements in the local press recently.

The work of the cross country team mangers and coaches are a credit to the club and should not be underestimated in keeping cross country running alive - The club needs to build on the volunteer efforts of this year and increase the participation of all athletes within the club.
What can we do to promote a wider participation next year and improve on the clubs/teams successes?

The general trend for cross country is in a downward spiral nationally so as a specialist running club we should be looking to change this trend - but how? Is cross country running dying out? (see below)

Cross Country Running: Decline and fall?

Another cross country season climaxed with the National Championships at Parliament Hill. Given the nature of the history of the event and the classic venue it was by all accounts an enjoyable jamboree and the organisers have every reason to feel pleased, even buoyant. However, this disguises the very parlous state of the sport and for a rigorous dissection you have to look at lower levels of activity, at leagues, counties, schools etc to test whether the sport is in terminal decline or not. I would maintain that it is and the occasional celebratory events such as the National or English Schools Championships disguise a deep malaise that rhetoric will not dispel.
