100 Days to the Olympics (Wed 18th April)

Postby Neil Gunn » Wed Apr 11, 2012 9:08 am

It may have escaped peoples' attention, but on Wednesday 18th April there is an event to mark the countdown to London 2012. The event will be held at the track from 6.00-8.00pm and is free.

Here is a bit of information about the event:

1.This is an important event for the promotion of our club (for club members and the general public) and we really need a good turn out from the road running section to support this aim
2. There is a 100 lap relay race - teams are being prepared for this from the track group & B & C groups (as well as the fell section and local running clubs). People will be encouraged to 'run a lap' (or several) - contact your group leader to find out more.
3. There will be the opportunity to run a timed 100m (and to see if you can better your own time)
4. There will be an introductory 'fell-type race' for the youngsters around the track and surrounding 'hills'. Marshalls are required.
5. There will be a throwing competion (for all ages)
6. There will be information desks for road, fell, cross-country, track & field, athletic development and a club stand all of which needs to be manned by suitable enthusiastic and knowledgeable folk (can you help).
7. There will be a stand about the Macc Half Marathon and 5K plus information about how to help out at the event (marshalling etc) - we need about 130 people to help run the event

Your help and support on this evening is vital and will be greatly appreciated. We still need people to help with catering.

Please come along and bring any friends and family that might be tempted into the world of athletics!
