Thanks Jon for suggesting the idea of doing the Gritstone Trail! Us old 'uns can sometimes get into ourselves and think, "humph, done that years ago"! but in the event it was a splendid day out and I'm sure it did us all good. Thanks to Adrian for manning the drinks station at Teggs Nose. I'm not sure he knew who half of these old buffers were who drank his drinks but good on you anyway.
Now I love these low key, non-competitive events but come on girls, what was your real time? Knackered at the finish (but gently revived by copious cups of tea), is what one expects but to see the girls turning the corner to finish only five minutes after ourselves! Why, Alan nearly choked on his cake. Then to be told that they had done it in 3.5hrs!!! We were elated (for the girls) and deflated (for ourselves) in equal measure.
No really I'm joking (why am I hopeless at lying), - you all did well .... I did well, Johnny did well, Alan and Jim did well. What is certain is that John Kershaw did well in doing the driving for us .. thanks John.
Maybe another similiar run later in the year .... ideas???
